Who is Bryan McKinney?

Hi, so that's me on the right. I love the outdoors. I enjoy kayaking, hiking, camping, astronomy, photography, and just being outdoors as much as possible.

My wife and I have 7 children, six living, ages 4-13. We homeschool, are involved in scouts for several of our sons and daughters, and attend church each week as a family. We moved to West Virginia 15 years ago to give our family the opportunity to live away from the big government of Virginia, only to find as much corruption and chaos here as just about everywhere else!

I'm a republican and a conservative. I would proudly call myself an anti-federalist. That means I don't trust or desire a strong central government because I want the voters and citizens at the local and state level to have more power over their lives than individuals far away who often forget the reason government exists.

For work I paint athletic fields. Several days a week you'll find me painting soccer, lacrosse, and even football fields on grass or synthetic turf at parks or schools. My job involves advanced semi-automated robots that help me paint those fields. I've been involved with this work for about 12 years. I attend trade shows and conventions each year to promote the company I work for and their products. I help sell the robots that paint athletic fields and train and support the groups that purchase these tools to help their organizations. I am proud of the work that I do and enjoy adding happiness and fun to the lives of the athletes that play sports on the fields I paint.

My educational background is in Health Policy Administration and marketing. At one time I wanted to become a doctor but life took me in other directions. I have also worked in the industry of heavy construction equipment and youth fundraising. I have experience running two small successful companies since graduating college.

I am running for governor of West Virginia because I see a lack of strong and honest leadership in Charleston. I want to ensure that my children have a reason to stay in this great state to work and raise their own families. I am saddened by the path that our state is on. As my oldest daughter challenged me four years ago "Dad, I think you should stop complaining and do something."
